Our Master Surveillant™ training program is the most comprehensive covert physical and technical surveillance program available. The program is comprised of training modules that address various covert surveillance investigative issues. The basic 3-day program provides investigators with the fundamentals of planning and executing a surveillance operation. Advanced training builds on the basic course, thus providing students more skills and knowledge to handle more complex and challenging surveillance operations.

This course is offered to LE and private/corporate investigators quarterly. A weekend team-building Adventure course is available for non-investigators that want to experience the real-life world of covert surveillance operatives. This course provides small-team building skills in an exciting and dynamic environment. Please email or call for details.

5-DAY TRAINING PROGRAM BASED ON THE AUTHOR'S BEST SELLING BOOK:

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICAL SURVEILLANCE (2ND EDITION)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides students with the fundamentals of physical surveillance as it pertains to Organized Retail Crime (ORC) investigations. Students will undertake a study of covert surveillance techniques and be able to apply these techniques in real world situations. Focuses on stationary, vehicle, and foot surveillance in urban and rural environments will prepare students to integrate these strategies into their work duties. Although the training utilizes an ORC theme, it is relevant to any type of investigation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course will expose the students to the concepts outlined in the book Fundamentals of Physical Surveillance (2nd Edition). The student will become familiar with the concepts and practical application of covert physical and electronic surveillance and their implementation in ORC investigations. Common investigative efforts are often not enough in combating professional retail thieves operating alone or in conjunction with others. Thus, this evolving threat to retail profits, and the safety of employees and customers, illustrates the importance of a retail investigator being able to integrate safely and effectively a covert physical and electronic surveillance with other investigative efforts.

The course will expose students to the various techniques, practices, and issues facing today's professional surveillant. Though many covert surveillance applications, both physical and electronic, will be discussed, the course will not assume that the student has any technical background in the fundamental techniques or technologies. At the completion of the course, students should be able to:

1) Understand and implement covert physical and electronic surveillance.
2) Understand how a retail or law enforcement investigator may use a covert surveillance to further an ORC investigation.
3) Understand how to install, track, and recover a vehicle-tracking device.
4) Understand the legal aspects of physical and electronic surveillance.
5) Understand the uses of visual aids and photographic equipment in a covert surveillance investigation.

What past students are saying about the training

Darin's expertise and practical knowledge was vast. His ability to communicate effectively both during the classroom and practical exercise was exceptional - Brian Flannery - ORC - Dollar General Inc.

I have been in Law Enforcement for twenty years and I can say that this class was VERY good - Phil Howard -ORC

Excellent training. Most learn from "doing" rather than listening. The class required active participation, the scenarios were both realistic and relevant as applied to the course objective, and the planning and execution of the exercises were meticulous.
Chuck Kim - Police
